My view on Marketing

Below, I share my experience as a Content Creator, Marketing Expert & Advertising Specialist over the past 20 years

As I continue my career I find that I’m running into the same scenarios again and again. I admit that marketing feels a bit nebulous in the moment, but it’s been proved time and time again. Companies that are innovative and invest in great advertising and marketing initiatives are the ones that thrive.

Today, no matter what product or service your company offers, you need to stand out from the crowd. Successful entrepreneurs cannot be underestimated when it comes to promoting their own businesses, but once a business grows to a certain point a marketer needs to step in. The grass roots feel of the business diminishes as the business matures, much like a teenager growing up

So, you want to level up your marketing? Here’s my advice…

Assuming you’re looking to hire someone full time, I highly recommend chosing someone with a marketing background, don’t simply promote a good employee who you feel is capable of doing your marketing. I see this all too often and the employee benefits while the company remains somewhat stunted. My next piece of advise is to keep your marketing and sales departments separate. My reasoning for this is simple, the goals and intentions of a marketer differ greatly from those in sales. Sales should be focussed on short term profit and the small end of the marketing funnel where conversion and intent to purchase take place. Marketing needs to look at the bigger picture, developing new prospects, nurturing existing ones and especially having a focus on UX or user experience is key in the digital world we now live in.
